December 19, 2021

Dear Parents and Guardians of Fredericton High School and Leo Hayes High School,

Late this evening we were informed of new Covid-19 cases at both schools. We are working with Public Health officials to identify any students and school personnel who may have been in contact with the cases.

Anyone identified as a close contact will receive a letter from Public Health with specific instructions on what to do next. Your school principals will send these letters out tomorrow.

All students at both schools should plan to participate in distance learning following their regular schedules online tomorrow, December 20.

While there will be no in-person classes for the day, schools will be open tomorrow for families to pick up their rapid-test kits. Please watch for the important message from your school principal with instructions on pick-up times for the kits.

If your child is showing any symptoms of Covid-19, you should:

  • Book a test online by clicking “Get tested” on the GNB coronavirus website (www.gnb.ca/coronavirus). OR,
  • Contact Tele-Care 811. The 811 operators will evaluate your child before sending them for testing.

If you have health-related questions, please write to COVID-19NB@gnb.ca.

Thank you for your continued support as we respond to the pandemic.

Sincerely,

David McTimoney, Superintendent
